In spring of 2013, folklore group „Gaiļupeite” was established in Šķaune parish, and at once started to actively participate not only in local events, but also in those organized by neighborhood parishes.
The name was chosen by group members, because most of them crosses Gaiļupeite river on their way to rehearsals. On 12th of April, 2014, the group participated in folklore and ethnographic ensembles show in Krāslava, that was the first big challenge to folklore group “Gaiļupeite”. The jury of the show awarded “Gaiļupeite” with II place award, so the group earned opportunity to participate in International folklore festival “Baltica”. Folklore group consists of 15 participants, who love to sing folklore songs of their region.
